About JCQA
The Japan Contemporary Quilt Association (JCQA) was founded in 2005.
Purpose of JCQA
Japanese quilting, which began around 1970 using traditional patterns, has now advanced to include quilts which express the artists’ creativity, using original ideas, materials and techniques. Japanese quilts seem to be changing from hobby crafts to art.
JCQA has been working to improve and develop Japanese quilts from all over Japan in many ways, including establishing the recognition that quilts are art and promoting quilt artistry based on the aesthetic sense that is cultivated in Japanese culture and environment.
